Sportia vs Sportzy: Which Sports Academy Software Is Right for You?

Sportia vs Sportzy: Which Sports Academy Software Is Right for You?

10 min read

Sportia and Sportzy are both academy platforms built for India. They are built around different jobs. Sportzy is strongest on the member loop: sign-ups, recurring billing, pauses, and parent self-service. Sportia is strongest on coaching depth: three QR attendance modes, session-quota packages, a drill library, athlete progress, and wearables. This guide walks through each area so you can pick on facts, not on a sales call.

How This Guide Was Put Together

Every claim about Sportzy comes from what the firm lists on sportzy.in and its app store pages. All of it was checked in August 2026.

Where a feature is not listed, this guide says exactly that. It does not say the feature is missing. Software changes fast, and no rival can see a private roadmap.

If you work at Sportzy and something here is out of date, write in and we will fix it. A guide that oversells our own side is worth nothing to you.

The Quick Verdict

Pick Sportzy if your academy runs on a member model and your main pain is admin. Sign-ups, recurring payments, pausing when a family travels, shifting a student between groups, and stock tracking are all named features.

Pick Sportia if your main pain is on the ground. Marking 200 athletes across batches, running session packages with quotas, keeping coaching the same across staff, and tracking athlete progress are what it is built around.

Most academies feel both, so ask which one costs you more hours this month.

Attendance

Sportzy lists student and staff attendance, and its coach and parent apps handle check-ins.

Sportia goes further here, because attendance is the one screen most academies touch every day. There are three QR modes, and you pick what suits your ground:

  • Coach QR - the coach shows a code and athletes scan it. Good for one batch on an open ground.
  • Location QR - a fixed code at the gate or notice board. Good for busy centres with several batches at once.
  • Athlete QR - each athlete carries a code the coach scans. Good for young kids who do not carry phones.

Sportia also allows cross-batch check-in, so an athlete who turns up on Wednesday instead of Tuesday is still marked correctly. Manual marking is always available as a backup.

Sportzy does not list QR modes. If you still use a paper register and a headcount, this is the biggest daily gap between the two.

Sign-Ups, Packages, and Group Changes

Here the two split most clearly, and Sportzy has real strengths in this area.

Sportzy lists group shifting and subscription pause. Both matter in India. Families travel for a month in summer, students move up an age group mid-season, and board exams pull teenagers out for a term. Naming those flows is a real plus.

Sportia solves the same problem from the package side. It runs training packages with session quotas, so you can sell 12 sessions valid for 60 days instead of a flat monthly fee. The system tracks sessions used, sessions left, and the expiry date.

That suits a different academy, because quota packages work when attendance is patchy and parents hate paying a full month for six sessions. Pause and shift work when attendance is steady and the gaps are rare.

Billing and Payments

Both tools automate what most academies still chase over WhatsApp.

Sportzy lists auto billing, recurring installments, and recovery tools for late payments, and online sign-up and secure payments are built in.

Sportia raises invoices automatically and collects through Razorpay, with tax, grace periods, and PDF export. Its own edge is pro-rata billing, so when an athlete joins on the 18th the first bill is worked out for the part month rather than rounded up by hand.

One honest limit: Sportia collects through Razorpay only. If you are tied to PhonePe or Paytm, that is a real gap today. Our guide to online fee collection for sports academies covers how the billing flow works.

Parent Communication

Sportzy has a parents app on Android and iOS, and families with more than one child run every profile from a single login. Parents see schedules, pay online, and view past payments, and email and in-app messages are listed.

Sportia has a parent portal with sibling support and a billing contact, plus Android and iOS apps, but the real difference is the channel. Sportia sends notifications over WhatsApp through Wamafy, its own WhatsApp Business API platform, or through WATI. Both handle templates and automatic reminders. Because Wamafy is built in-house, that channel is owned end to end rather than rented from a third party.

That matters more in India than most feature lists admit. Parents read WhatsApp, while app alerts get switched off quietly. If you have ever dropped a fee reminder into a group and watched nothing happen, you know the problem.

Leads, Trials, and the Enrollment Pipeline

Both cover this. It is worth fixing a myth here: Sportzy does list leads and enquiry management along with academy trials. It is not a gap.

Sportia adds an embeddable inquiry form you can drop onto your own site, so leads land in the pipeline without anyone retyping them. It tracks follow-ups, trials, campaigns, and conversion. See our guide to managing leads and trials in a sports academy.

Coaching Depth: The Real Divide

Sportzy lists performance reports, while Sportia builds out a full coaching layer, and this is the clearest difference between the two.

  • Coaching library - store drills, workouts, and training plans. Assign them to batches or single athletes, then track if they were followed.
  • Athlete development - progress tracking, goals, training logs, personal bests, and wellness check-ins.
  • Wearables - seven providers, including Strava, WHOOP, Oura, Garmin, Polar, Wahoo, and Apple Health, with training load and readiness.
  • Five-level coach hierarchy - head, senior, assistant, junior, and trainee, with rights that follow the level.

Sportzy lists none of this. If your academy is a well-run class business, you may never need it. If you are building athletes for district and state meets, it is the split between software that logs payments and software that backs coaching.

Multi-Location and User Rights

Both handle more than one centre. Sportzy lists centre management, coach allocation, and multiple user roles.

Sportia offers multi-location with facility handling, plus over 40 granular permissions and templates. It also uses a multi-tenant design with one global login. A coach who works at two academies sees a picker instead of juggling two accounts.

For a two-centre academy both are fine, and the depth of permissions only starts to matter once you have front-desk staff, several coaches, and a partner who should see revenue but not edit athlete records.

Where Sportzy Is Genuinely Stronger

A guide written by one side is only useful if it says this part out loud.

  • Stock tracking. Sportzy lists it. Sportia does not have it. If you sell equipment or track balls and rackets, that is a genuine gap on our side.
  • Pause and group shifting. Named, first-class flows. Sportia can handle the same cases, but not as features with those names.
  • Camps, events, and a settled parent app. Sportzy has run its parent app for a while. Getting parents to use an app is the hardest part of any rollout.

Sportia has its own open gaps, and they are worth stating plainly. There is no reports and analytics dashboard yet, no in-app alert centre, no API or SSO, and payments run through Razorpay alone.

Pricing and What You Can Really Compare

Sportia publishes its prices, and plans start at Rs 999 a month for 25 athletes at one site. The top plan is Rs 12,999 for 1,000 athletes, unlimited sites, and a custom domain, with an Enterprise tier above that. The free trial runs 14 days and needs card details up front.

Sportzy does not publish prices. The site asks you to book a demo or get in touch, so cost comes from a quote. Some outside listings quote low per-student figures, but nothing is confirmed on Sportzy's own site. Treat those numbers with care.

This is not a knock on their model, and quote-based pricing often suits bigger academies. It does mean you cannot compare cost from a web page, so ask for a written quote with the athlete cap, the centre cap, and the renewal price after year one.

Which One Fits Your Academy

A simple way to choose, based on what really eats your week:

  1. Fees and admin are the problem. Both work. Sportzy's pause and shift flows fit well if families come and go.
  2. Attendance across many batches is the problem. Sportia's three QR modes were built for this.
  3. Coaching is not the same across staff. The drill library and training plans give Sportia a clear edge.
  4. You are building athletes for competition. Progress tracking, personal bests, and wearables matter, and only Sportia lists them.
  5. You sell kit and track stock. Sportzy has it. Sportia does not.

How to Switch Without Losing Your History

Five step checklist for switching sports academy management software without losing data
The five-step switch that keeps your athlete history and your fee records intact.

Moving platforms feels risky, so plan it around a billing cycle rather than mid-month.

  1. Export your athlete list, batch setup, and pending dues from your current tool.
  2. Clean the list first, because every move is a good excuse to drop athletes who left months ago.
  3. Import athletes and batches, then rebuild your fee structure before you touch invoices.
  4. Run both tools side by side for one billing cycle and compare the totals.
  5. Move parents across last, with one clear message and a short walkthrough.

Keep your old export stored, whichever way you go. That is basic hygiene, not distrust.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sportia or Sportzy better for a small academy?

Under 50 athletes at one site, both handle the basics well. Sportia lists a Rs 999 plan for 25 athletes, so you can budget without a sales call. Sportzy needs a quote, which may work out cheaper for your size.

Does Sportzy have QR code attendance?

Sportzy lists student and staff attendance plus app check-ins, but does not list QR modes. Sportia has three: coach QR, location QR, and athlete QR, plus cross-batch check-in.

Can I move my data from Sportzy to Sportia?

Yes. Export your athletes, batches, and pending dues, then import them during setup. Plan the switch at the start of a billing cycle and run both tools side by side for one month.

Which is better for multi-location academies?

Both support more than one centre. Sportia adds unlimited sites on Premier, over 40 granular permissions, and one global login for staff who work across academies. Sportzy lists centre management and coach allocation.

Does Sportia have a parent app like Sportzy?

Yes. Sportia has Android and iOS apps plus a parent portal with sibling support. It also sends notifications over WhatsApp through Wamafy or WATI, and parents in India read those far more often than app alerts.

What does Sportzy cost?

Sportzy does not publish prices and asks you to request a demo. Ask for a written quote covering your athlete count, your number of centres, and the renewal price after year one.

Pick on Your Bottleneck, Not the Feature Count

Both tools beat a spreadsheet and a WhatsApp group, but the longer feature list does not win by itself, because you will only ever use the part that solves your real problem.

Work out where your hours go this month. If it is chasing fees and handling pauses, either tool helps. If it is attendance, coaching, and athlete progress, that is the ground Sportia was built on.

Start your free 14-day Sportia trial and test it on your own batches before you decide.
